Ralph Castro
Great Grandmaster Ralph Castro is the martial legend in a true sense. He hails from Honolulu, Hawaii, and received training from another legend late Great Grandmaster William K. S. Chow who brought him up into the black belt ranks. His field is Shaolin Kenpo
Around early 1960s, he moved San Francisco and settled there. Here is also started teaching and spreading Shaolin Kenpo Karate, thus producing many top blackbelts who became masters in their own right.
Thereafter he also involved himself in promoting number of sports events and even demonstrations.
In 1982, he was entered in the Inside Kung Fu Yearbook. In 1985 his story was told in Official Karate and he was pictured on the cover. He was featured on the cover of Karate Kung Fu in 1987. Black Belt Magazine placed Ralph Castro on its June cover in 1988 and entered him into its Black Belt Hall of Fame that same year. In 1989 Great Grandmaster Castro was entered in Black Belt Magazine’s yearbook.
He maintained active membership in the International Kenpo Karate Association from 1958 to 1982. In 1981 Ralph Castro laid the foundation of the International Shaolin Kenpo Association of which he is the current President.
I personally think that his biggest contribution to martial arts has been his daughter June Castro. He has trained her thoroughly and she has grasped the technique with dedication and hard work. Not only this, she has made major contributions in teaching spreading martial arts. She is considered to be amongst one of the best martial arts instructors.
